About Me
I’m not that much different from anyone else; a little bit brighter, or dumber, than some; a bit more articulate, or less, than others. I have what most everyone else has, family, pets, job, hopes, hobbies — stuff like that.
I’ve been a lifeguard, commercial pilot — flying cargo and people throughout the Caribbean and SE US — flight instructor, cop, martial artist, police academy instructor in driving, firearms and self-defense, police administrator, security guard, executive chauffeur, writer, and some other things that are none of your business. Suffice it to say that, with regard to many things, I’ve been there and done that.
I’m firmly convinced that what is most important about people is the similarities, not the differences, and I believe that our concentration on the differences has caused most of the trouble in the world, both historically and right now. Sometimes it has been differences in color, in faith, in economic interests. Finally, except in the case of fanatics, I think it all comes down to economics. If you want to understand the world, in the words of Jerry McGuire, “Show me the money!”
I believe in compassion, sharing, taking care of myself and my family and paying as little attention as possible to other people’s business. That said, I’ll admit I’m not very good at it some days. I am, however, in my unskillful way, a practicing Buddhist, and I try to let that inform my thinking with greater or lesser success.
Finally, I believe that when it comes to life there is no black and no white, only gray.
